STATE COAL MINES.
SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. No more orders for coal will be accepted by the State coal mines depot in Wellington for some days to come. Although SOO tons from the C-reymoutli Point Elizabeth mine came to hand by the Poherua on Saturday, the stock will be exhausted in a week.
The management of the depot says that it has never before been in such an awkward position. Orders have been coming in at a great rate, but until itis satisfied that it can meet all demands. it- will hot accept, any new business. The Slate mine near Greymouth is nt present supplying coal for the railway and four depots.
