The urgent need for an institution for incuraibles in Auckland was exemplified i this morning when the manager's report i set forth to members of the Hospital Board in committee that the number of patients of over twG months' standing in the district hosipital had reached the large total of 61. "It is difficult to know what to do with the Diajority of these cases," the report stated. "They are certainly unsuitable for a general hospital," continued the writer, "and I am informed that the infirmary ward of the Costley Home is full. Also that there is no likelihood of vacancies for some time to come. There is undoubtedly an urgent need for some institution for incurables in Auckland." The -_irm_.n .(Mr- H. Schofield): That is so. Mr. E. H. Potter: I think there should be a convalescent home. The Chairman of the Honorary Medical Staff (Dr. Pabst) -. You mean a convalescent home for men? Mr. Potter: Yes. The Chairman: I don't think we can do anything now. I more that the report be received. Agreed to on the voices.
