CIVIL SESSIONS. j (Before Mr. Justice 'Edwards.) CLAIM FOR ALLOTMENT MOXET. A case which concerned legal argument was heard at the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Edwards, to-day, when the Shortland Flat Gold Mining Company, Limited, in liqmdation (William Gray being liquidator thereof), claimed from John ___bone the sum of £500 as damages. Dr. Bamford appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. Myers of Wellington (with him Mr. McVeagh), for defendant. The statement of claim was to the effect that the plaintiff company was duly incorporated under the Companies Act on August 26, 1909, with a capital of £25,000. The defendant was holder of IOyOOO shares. Pursuant to the terms upon which the said shares were allotted, the sum of 6d_ per share became payable upon applfcation, and 6d. per share upon a__t__t. The defendant had not pail this sum, wherefore William Gray, the liquidator of the company, claimed the sum. of £500 and costs. The point of c____on. which is entirely a legal one, is whether defendant, being a director of the company; is bound to pay the £500 as the allotment money on 10,000 shares applied for "by the company. This morning and part of the afternoon were occupied -with the hearing of legal argument by counsel. (Proceeding.)
