EMPIRE (DAY CO!«2EKT. By kind permission of the officers commanding, , It has been arranged 'that on the occasion of the above concert the Garrison Band will assemble at the Devonport Ferry office at 7.15 on Friday night, at which time and place the various contingents of the Dominion Boy Scouts will parade, under the command of JMstricc Commander H. Stebblng. From this point they will march to the Town Hall, and on their arrival the Bandmaster has kindly consented to play several items outside -the hall as an additional attraction to the already excellent programme provided. OPERA 'HOUSE. There was not a vacant seat in -the Opera House last evening, when the current vaudeville programme was again given. The large audience was not slow to mark its appreciation of the excellence of the fare provided, and recalls were the order. 'Miss Carrie "Moore appeared Id a number of 'her delightful monologue sketches, and gave a happy rendering of several songs. The same artists will appear this evening. QUEER'S THEATKE. Messrs. MaeMahon and ladder's little theatre is stowing a new infl attractive programme, commencing this morning, ■when a large attendance was recorded. The series opens with an industrial item eutitled "Manufacturing Paper." This picture shows every phrase of 'the industry from beginning to end, and is a particularly interesting subject. "Little Miriam" is an interesting story of a little Arab girl, adopted by an Italian company of soldiers. She •wins the love of. all who come in contact/with her, especially Oft one private, who is her particular guardian. 'When it comes to the ears of the colonel, however, lie orders that she be put in charge of the nurses, much to the sorrow of the private. The colonel, touched by his devotion, promates him. "Jenn Intervenes" is the story of an intelligent dog. Her mistress' husband is jealous of his wife's attentions to her pet and a quarrel ensues. Jean bvmgs about a reconciliation off her own bat In a very creditable manner. "Japanese Ix>ve" is a pretty story set in pretty surroundings. The Japanese girl, in order to follow her lover, an English officer, dresses in European clothes. At home he Is teased about lils love, and worry over the position, almost drives him mad. He does not recognise her in European clothes, and .it Hie entreaties of his family she dons her national dress. "The Brave Firemen" and "The Mystic Ring" are two excellent comics, the latter being a trick subject. The same programme continues until Saturday. . ■"• ' . ■ H.3J.S. 'PIONEER CONCERT. By permission of Captain P. 3. Stopford. *be ship's company of 11.M.5. Pioneer will give a variety concert in flip concert chamber of the Town Ball on Wednesday, June 8. The pragramme -will im-lnde a naval cutlass display, some first-class wrestling ftouts, two humorous sketches, and several songs. The proceeds of the entertainment are to be' donated to the fund for the relief of the relatires ox 'the -crew of the missing dredge Jlan-ehester. A performance of so novel a nature should meet Tv'ith' the support of the public. Bookings wRI be started at once at >Jlessrs. WlWman and' Arey's. OTHER PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS. The picture of the Liverpool Grand National, which is being shown at the Lyric Theatre, is atracting. a good deal of attention. It is a capital racing picture, giving an excellent idea of the •whole race from start to finish. It will be shewn for the second *time this evening.
