THE TERR'S PROGRESS. The arrnnal report of the Point Chevalier Road Board, which -will be presented at the annual meeting of ratepayers tonight, shows that the past year has> <iosed with an overdraft of £103 15./, ■bat with the payment of certain Government refunds and the unsold water meters in stock, the general account stood in credit, besides Which the Board I possesses security •worth at least £350 lin the public hall, srte, and fittings. The i contract for the installation of the water ! supply was satisfactorily completed in 1 the early portion of the year, and there l are at present 90 connections. The sysi tern of supply by meter only is giving ' general satisfaction. Three extensions Jof mains have been made by the Board's ! stall. The formation of Gladstone and ' Point Chevalier Beach roads was com- ! pleted out of Government grunts, anil during the year eleven new roads were i formed by the owners and dedicate*' to I the district. Advantage was taken of j the Coronation grant of £75 to erect ! a public hall and Board oflice, the sum ■of .JuiStiG 15/5 being spent out of the 1 Hoard's funds, and .€."i2 2/ received in ' donations. Thp district being under the ! -Auckland and Suburban Drainage Hoard, :it has been levied on to the extent of tM.'J 8/; the Board observes that a.soon as the sower is in the district the , question of a complete drainage scheme will have to be faced. The Board has endeavoured to maintain ail roads out of i general funds, but it is now considered i l.liat, permanent foundations shall be laid. ;lr is stated that the interest on the niMiessary loan could easily 'be met with- , out striking a special rate. The report I mentions si* an indication of the proI gress of the district that the capital i value of ratable land has increased from £68,350 in 1010 to £120.030 in 1911, and Li now £134,002.
