AUCKLAND'S DRAINAGE SCHEME

COMPLETE IX 1913. In the opinion of Mr. W. E. Bush, city engineer, the drainage scheme for Auckland andi suburbs will not be completed till' some time in 1915. The following ! sections of the main sewer are now under i construction or have been contracted for: I Section 2, across Hobson Bay: section 3. I from Hobson Bay to the Domain : section ' 4, from the Domain to Freeman's Bay: ' and section 5. from Freeman's Bay to Cox"* Creek. The branch sewers No. 2. from Hobson Bay to Portland-road; Xo. 3, from Hobson Bay to Newmarket; Xo. 4a. from the Domain to Jermyn-street; an-d Xo. 7d. from Arch Hill Gully to Mt. Eden, are also in progress or contracted for. The folio-wing is a list of those parts of the work not yet started, and for which contracts have not been let: Buildings at storage tanks; main sewer, sections Xo. 6, from Cox's Creek to Great Xorthxoad; Xo. 7, from Great Xorth-road to Oakley Creek; branch sewers Xo. 3, from Xeirmarket raiKvay station to junction of Great Sonth-road and Manukau-road; No. 7b, from Arch Hill Gully to Mt. Eden (near Dominion-road) ; Xo. 5. from WUlow-street to Marine Parade; Xo. 6, from Richmond-road to Jervois-road; No. j 5, from main sewer, near Great Xorth- i road, to Mt. Eden boundary (near Mt. Eoskill). All the work cow on hand is expected to be finished by March next, and it is hoped that all the remaining contracts ■will , be let by that time. Probably the next work put in hand will be section 6, from Cox's Creek to Great North-road: branch sewer Xo. 3. from Newmarket I Tail-way station to junction of Great • South-road and Manukau-road: and the j branch sewer. No. 5. from Willow-street to Marine Parade,
