ST. DAVID'S CHURCH.
REV. J. 3L SAUSTDEBS INDUCTED.
The induction of the Rev. J. M. Saunders. M.A-, late of the Welsh Presbyterian Church, to the charge of St. David's Church, Khyber Pass, took place last evening in the presence of a large congregation and a representative gathering of ministers of the Auckland Presbytery. The Rev. William Trotter (Epsom) conducted the earlier portion of the service, preaching an impressive sermon from the text: " Look unto Mc, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else." (Isaiaft sly., 22.
The Rev. Isaac Jolly. St. Stephen's, inducted and addressed the minister. After the question pertaining to the faith and doctrinal teaching of the Presbyterian Church had been answered as required, Mr. Jolly extended the right hand of fellowship to the minister, being followed by the members of the presbytery according to their seniority. Mr. Jolly then <*uve a narrative of the proceedings he had taken as moderator in filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of the Rev. Gray Dixon. He Tead a letter from Mr. Dixon. wfc*ing the congregation and Mr. Saunders ** God speed" in the work of the church. In asking Mr. Saunders to stand down, Mr. Jolly said that he felt that he should not preach to one of such wide, experience in the Christian faith as Mr Saarnders. and would, therefore, address the brethren in general. He took for his text., Timothy L, xli., 15: "Till I come give attendance to reading, to exhortation, and to doctrine." The Rev. G. B. Munro briefly addressed i.he people, detailing some of their duties in furthering the work of the minister. The musical service was appropriate to the occasion, and after the benediction had been pronounced, the organist (Mr. E. S. Craston, Mus. Bach.) playett the •" Hallelujah Chorus," the congregation standing.
