DUNEDIN, Monday.

Frederick Percy Evans, of Caversham, appeared oa summons before Mr. J. R. Bartholomew, £.31., at the Magistrate' 3 Court this afeernoon, charged with having fraudulently -misappropriated £10 belonging to tMs corporation. It was stated that aaotber information -would be laid, and that defalcations would certainly ran inro £100. The caso -was adjourned till April Ist. Bail was -fixed at £150 in the defendant's own recognisance, »nd two sureties of £73 each.

A fire at Woodwid last night destroyed the post office store, owned by J. H. Lloyd, <T. Felton's bootmaker's shop, and the Oddfellows' Wall adjoining. Lloyd's stock is » total loss. The furniture end piano in the hail were saved. IJoyd, who moved in two months ago, ia a heavy loser. The hall is insured for £350 in the Socth British. Other insurances are unknown.
