THE BATTLE AT DERMA. ROME, March 6. During the fighting at Derna, on the coast of Tripoli, on Sunday, at close quarters, the Italian casualties were: — Killed CO. severely wounded 42. and slightly wounded 135, a total' of 237. Of the GO killed, eight were officers, and the wounded included 13 officers. The Italians, with their black allies recruited in the Italian Red Sea colony of Eritrea, were hotly attacked by a force of Turks and Arabs. The Eritrean battalion was for six hours under engagement, and repelled the Arabs near Birel. The Arabs lost 100 killed .while the battalion lost nine killed! and 28 wounded.
