EDUCATION BOARD.

THE FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Education Board was held thU morning. There were present: The chairman (Mr. G. J. Garland), Messrs. C. T. Barrlbail, G. W. Murray, J. D. McKensie, H. J. Greenslade, { and A. B. Harris. Apologies were received for the absence 'of Messrs. Edgecumbe, Farmer, and Banks. TEACHERS' APPOINTMENTS. The Board adopted the recommendations of the Teachers' Selection Committee In regard to the following appointments:—Mr. W. E. Johns, head teacher, Silverdale j school, Mr. G. Large, to temporary charge of Maraetai 1 and 2 schools; Miss B. M. Taylor, to temporary charge of Hoteo North school: Mr. A. Menties, to temporary charge of Walton school: Mr. F. L. K. Broadgate, to temporary charge of Kirikopunl school; Mr. R. B. Gamlen, to temporary charge of Klnohaku Xo. 1 school: MiS3 M. A. O'Donoghue, to temporary charge of Waitomo Caves school :"Mr. W. R. Miss M. F. Egan. Also that applications be Invited bv advertisement for appointments of assistants to Grafton. Birkdalc, Mangerc Bridge. Mayfleld. Richmond Road, Karangn-; hake, and Edendale. A commtmication was received from the Hamilton West Committee regarding the staff of the school, and the committee's reqnest f->r the appointment of an assistant in lieu of two pupil-teachers was not acceded to. Appointments were deferred in regard to so'» chare» of Pakaru, Otsikerangi (aided). Walpn Cave (aided), and assistant at Whananaki. NEW SCHOOLS AND BUILDINGS.
