SOUTHERN ELECTIONS. (Ey Teiejraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURGH, this day. Polling is proceeding merrily in Kaiapoi, Christchureh North, Christchur -h E'ast, Riccarton, and Avon. Voting has biH'n exceptionally heavy in Christchureh Xorth during the morning, and the contest there is exciting the keenest interest. A ciose tight is anticipated in Chrictehtuch East and Avon. WELLINGTON, this day. The second ballot is proceeding in fine weather. Keen interest is taken, particularly in the Central and East electorates. Polling is expected to be exceptionally heavy. A LAUNCH SCNE. CIoBORNE, this day. A launch used tendering the steamer Teararoa sank at her moorings this morning, and is likely to become a total wreck.
