The Christchureh St. Helens Hospital brought its thousandth baby into the world; yesterday. The infant was number 1339 on the hospital books, since 339 'births have 'been attended in private homes in t'he district. The officers of the institution iboast that their (mortality rate has been veiy low indeed, in spite of tho fact that some of the mothers live under decidedly disadvantageous conditions -during tho pre-natal period. The value of the hospital to the poorer sections of the community has been incalculable. The beverage that benefits—Wolfe's Schnapps—a drink, a tonic, a medicine. -(Acl.l
