HOTTXY. A public meeting of residents was held on Monday evening to decide wbat form the function in connection with the driving of the first pi'.e of the Htxntly bridge over the Waikaro should take. Mr J. 1". Bailey, chairman Iluntiy Town Board, presided over a representative attendance. A strong committee was formed for the purposse. It 'was decided that after the ceremony of driving the first pile by the Hon. ill. McKenzie (Minister of Public. Works), on a date yet to be fixed by the Minister, a banquet be held in the Masonic Hall, and that the representatives of the various local bodies in the district be invited to be present. WKXTIANGA. A handsome case of gold-mounted pipes was presented last night by Mr. E. A. Eyre on behalf of the Whitiauga Footballers' Club to Mr. John Bryee, who has been a most energetic secretary and prominent player for the past five years. Mr. Brvce left by the s.s.
