Telegraphic communication with Chingta is interrupted, but the foreigners left (■(v town on Thursday. A mob attacked t'ue 'Viceroy's palace, jot was driven off, 20 rioters being killed. flu- Government is massing troop 3 on jfe Chingtu frontier. Considerable unrest exists in the province of Szechuan, chiefly resulting from resentment against the intervention of foreigners in railway construction. Owing to the disturbances in the province the Viceroy requested missionaries in the outlying districts to concentrate in tho towns. All the foreigners at Chingtu concentrated in tho Canadian mission compound.
