An elderly man named Richard Grimwood attempted to drown himself last night in the Manuk.au harbour near the Waikaraka Cemetery. When arrested by Constable MeGlone he was dripping wet and informed the constable that the water was not deep enough to drown him. He is an inmate of the Costley Home. This mornrar? he wa* brought before Messrs. A. S. Holmes and JHenderson, J-P-'s, who convicted him or attempted suicide and ordered him back to the Costley Home. Mr J T. Stevenson advises that a change of weather may be expected within about 36 hours, with a north-east 1 to north-west gale and rain.
