REMUERA TRAFFIC BY-LAW.
I UNPOTCLAR WITH CARRIERS. ! Tiie meeting of the Remuera Road Board yesterday evening was attended by a deputation of merchants, headed by Mr Winstone, who requested that the Board should repeal by-law 13, providing that no person shall conduct the carriage of timber, bricks, sand, etc., on any road under the control of the Hoard without previously depositing with the Board the vest, as estimated by the Board, of repairing such damage as the traffic might occasion to the road*. Mr Wiinsto".e staled that merchants could not comply with the wheel tax in the manner required by the Board, and added that it was mi !.i ;r not to allow merchants the oplion of pnyinpr .t shilling per load on ■.chicles passing through the district. The Hoard discus .ed the matter in comnuittee. A ratepayer requested that portion of the streets improvement loan be expended on West bourne-road, and the request was sent on to the Works Committee for consideration.
