The police officials intimate that they have heard nothing so far of the escape* PoweTka, who has now been away nin» days. The Palmerston Xorth correspondent of the "Dominion" writes: —"A rumour has been going the rounds that Powelka is not far from Ashhurst, and in consequence an extra police constable hat been sent to that district. At Longburs also people are- anxious to know what has become of the fugitive, but the general feeling appears to be one of indifference, and so far as conversation is concerned Powelka's name is scarcely mes> tioned."
