AUCKLAND V. WEIXTNGTON. AUCKLAND 3 GOALS; WELLINGTON 1. The first representative fourth grade match played in Auckland eventuated at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon, when Wellington and Auckland met. There was a good attendance, and the game proved an Interesting one. The result was a victory for Auckland by three goals to one. Following were the team*: — Wellington.—Goal, C. Even play followed, and Wellington were back again, pressing Auckland at close quarters. Kent brought off a nice save for Auckland, and then the visitors forced another corner, but failed to score. Offside play by Auckland, wtoo were attacking, gave Wellington a free kick, and the black and golds cleared. Wellington pressed, and another corner went by the board. In close play at the goal, Kent headed the ball out at a critical momfnt and narrowly averted a score. Auckland forwards rushed the ball up field and a centre by Charteris was beaded In by Fowler, but he Just missed the post. Auckland still pressing, Gilmore beating three men passed the ball to Fowler, who had a sJhot but was stopped by the Wellington goal keeper. Play ceased for a moment to enable the referee to clear the lines, and then from neutral play Wynyard took the ball down the line, passed to Stewart, who centred, and Mei'herson received the ball and put it Into the net, registering Auckland's second goal. LEAGUE MATCHES. WINS FOR EVERTON AND roNsoxnv. The League matches were continued this afternoon, when Everton beat W.Y.M.I, by 4 goals to 2. and Ponsonby won from Caledonian by default. EVERTON v. W.Y.M.I. This game was well contested, and was played In a friendly spirit. Everton notched four goals to their opponents' two, Marsh, Robinson, and Love scoring for Everton. and Dwyer for W.Y.M.I. The game thus ended: Everton 4 W.Y.M.I 2 Mr French was referee. PONSONBY v. CALEDONIAN. Caledonian failed to put iu a team, and the match was forfeited to Ponsonby, which now caunot be displaced for championship honours. SECOND DIVISION. Gordon won from Y.M.C.A. by default. Hotspur, 4, beat North Shore, 2. For Hotspur, the scorers were Crompton i2) and Lee (2). The game was fast, and there was a tendency to roughness. FIFTH DIVISION. Y.M.C.A. A. 4, bent Mount Eden. 1.
