The Queensland bowling championship has been won by Bryce. The death is announced of Mr. Josepil Israels, the famous Dutch painter. Mr. Edward Brodie Hoare, a director of Lloyd's Bank, has been killed whilst motoring in Kent. The Princess Mary (daughter of the King and Queen) has undergone a slignt operation, which proved successful. In the Association football carnival South Australia defeated Victoria and Tasmania defeated West Australia. The St. Petersburg dockers have resumed work under an agreement by which they will receive payment by piecework. Mr. Fisher, who has arrived in Melbourne, expresses himself as greatly impressed with King George's grasp of Imperial affairs and his interest in the overseas Dominions. The "Matin" states that the Government is establishing an aerial flotilla reserve, incorporating many civilian aviators. It is stated that several private aeroplanes have been requisitioned. In the Scottish tennis tournament Dunlop beat Clements for the Scottish championship by 6—4, 6 — l. In the intor-State tennis tournament New South | Wfclea beat Queensland by 15 rubbers to 5.
