It falls to the lot of few to be knighted once, but to be knighted twice has been the privilege of only one person within recent times. Some twenty years ago the "Chronicle" relates, Lord Herschell went to Windsor to be invested by Queen Victoria with the Grand Cross of the Bath. On such occasions the Queen was always rapid in her movements, and Lord Hcrschell having sunk on his knee to be invested, received the honour of knighthood before anyone could interfere. The Queen had overlooked the fact that Lord Henehall had baen preTiooalr. knlgttad in 1880.
