CYCLING.
The arrangements for the running of the Dunlop Christchurch-Tiniaru road race, which is promoted this year by the Dunlop Rubber Company of Australasia, Ltd., are well in hand, and there is every indication of the event reviving the interest and giving great impetus to the sport. The decision to start the race from Christehurch and finish at Timaru has been received with approval by cyclists and the public generally. The first prize will be £-10 cash, and the prize for fastest time £25, with a £5 5/ gold medal. These are donated by the company, the latter provisionally on the winner competing in the Melbourne-Warr-nambool road race, the probable date of the Australian contest being October 14, 1911. Thursday, September 7, is the date fixed for the race, the day chosen offering better facilities for the return journey to riders completing the course than was formerly the case. The race will be rim in accordance with the rules of the N.Z. Athletic and Cycling Union. With the reversal of the route, the changing of the day, and the consequent advantages to riders, together with a splendid list of prizes (particulars of which will be advertised shortly), there is every indication that the entries this year will be a record', and the race an unprecedented success.
