YONGALA INQUIRY.

ITO TWO THEORIES AGREE. (Recei-ed 0.20 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. At the Yongala inquiry. Captain Sim, formerly master of the Yongala. described her as a very good seaboat indeed. While with her he encountered several heavy gales. He did not believe that she went on a reef. The Adelaide Co.'s superintendent engineer stated that the Yongala had been thoroughly tested for stability. He did not think her loss due to the breakdown of her machinery, which was the strongest he had seen on the Australian coast. She was registered to the highest class at Lloyds. Other former officers of the Yongala detcribed her as the finest seaboat they were eTer in. Most of the witnesses adduced different theories accounting for the loss, and they were not even able to agree as to the direction of the storm. Many different recommendations were made for the additional lighting o. that part of the coast.
