THE CORONATION.
WHANGAREI CELEBRATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Saturday. The question of suitably celebrating the Coronation has been enthusiastically taken up in Whangarei, and at a further meeting last night general details were roughly outlined. These embrace a united procession, headed by the municipal band, of veterans, Territorials, cadets, Salvation Army, Friendly Societies, Fire Brigade, and local bodies. The route will be from the Drill Hall to Weaver's Park, where a public demonstration will be made, the proclamation read by the Mayor, and addresses delivered to the massed school children. In the evening a torchlight procession of friendly societies and the band will take place. The meeting decided to ask the Borough Council to provide for the erection of two huge bonfires on Parahaki and Look Out hills, and decided also to ask the ladies of the Croquet Club to decorate the band rotunda in Weaver's Park, and the business people to combine in the illumination and decoration of the town. Major ClarkWalker was appointed to marshal tho procession, and Lieut-Col. Mackesy to have full charge of arrangements. The Mayor, Messrs. Wilkinson, Reynolds, Mackesy, Bray, and Roberts were appointed a finance committee to make final arrangements.
