New Monowai.—The drive south is along 05 feet. The average -width of the reef is 2 feet 0 Inches, and the ore. being of fair j grade, is all sent to the battery. In No. 1 stope the reef is seven feet ln width, and of fair average value. One hundred and eleven tons were sent to the battery, of which the 83 tons treated gave an assay value of £2 0/0 per too. During the -week the cyanide portions of t*e plant cleaned up for a return of £173 12/10 from 218 tons trea ted. Saxon.—A very hard bonlder In the low level crosscut retarded progress this- week. There is reason to think good country Is near at hand. Mt. Welcome. —The" tunnel is along r>BB feet. The country still carries a lot of water. The eastern section Is blacky, well mineralised ground. Alburnla.—No. 1 reef in the face is now broken up into hands of sandstone, with stringers of quartz, and does not show 60 much good mineral. Victoria. —At No. 4 level the southern crosscut is in 27ft, and penetrating good country. The north-west drive on No. 2 reef at No. 4 level is In 92ft from the crosscut. The reef formation is still of a broken nature. In the footwall the country is well mineralised. Tiremner's Freehold.—ln the stapes at No. I level six pounds of stone have been collected. There has not been .much work done on 1310 new reef. It is 8 to 12 inches •wide, and seven pounds of picked stone were secured. The gold is in blotches here and there. The country, as usual, is very Intnl. May Queen.—At No. 10 level (lOOOftl the country remains favourable. The Exchange reef is looking very promising, anil good dabs and colours of gold have been seen. The country is now more mineralised. The quartz from No. 4 lode, No. !) level, shows gold pretty well. The quartz coming to hand from the footwall branch at No. li level in the stopes frequently shows gold, and 'a little picked stone lias been selected. A little gold is seen in the quartz at each breilring down of the hangingwall branch of No. 4 lode.
