VICTORIA LEAGUE.
THE IMPERIAL IDEAL.
LONDON, June 10. Numbers of overseas branches were represented at the Victoria League Conference, which opened to-day. Lord Plunket (ex-Governor of New Zealand) stated that persons with experience of the oversea peoples realised that sentiment was a tremendous factor in the growth of the Imperial ideal, and the maintenance of a united Empire. Mrs. Carr Rollett, of Auckland, stated that the New Zealand League was doing good work in the direction of assisting young Englishmen to fit themselves for the life of farmers. She pleaded for a more systematic method of welcoming immigrants. An English delegate suggested the interchange of teachers.
