One of those severely through damage done by flt\d water on Saturday was Mr. E. F. Kelly, of Ver-mont-street,, Ponsonby. Mr. Kelly's property is separated from the adjoining vacant section by a concrete wall eight feet in height, and the water banking up caused about 50 feet of it to suddenly collapse, and the remainder, especially the portion facing Vermont-street, is standing at a dangerous angle. Mr. Kelly's valuable horse, which was taking shelter under the wall at the time of the collapse, was so badly injured that it had to be shot. Mr. Kelly estimates his total loss at about £50.
