Mr. W. E. Tarry (president of the Miners' Union) refuses to recognise the Uev. Smailes in the matter of his reicnt challenge to visit cases of poverty In the town, as he directed such challenge to the secretary of the Ministers' Association, the Rev. Mr. White, as their representative. The death of James Dunstan, ,an old and respected resident of Wnihi, occurred at his late residence. Clarke-street, on Friday. Deceased had been in ill-health for some considerable time. He was 67 years of age, and leaves a growu-up family to mourn their loss.
