AN AIRMAN'S DEATH.

FLYING IN A GALE. PETROL TANK EXPLODES. (Received 10.15 a.m.) ROME, June 9. An airman named Marra -was killed here yesterday. A strong wind was blowing at the time Marra bad announced that he would commence his flight, and his wife and friends unsuccessmlly attempted to dissuade him from going up. He had apparently conquered the wind, when the aeroplane overturned, and the petrol tank exploded and the machine caught fire. Marra was burned by the flames, and was crushed beneath the wreckage of his machine.
