BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
RESIGNATION OF COUNCILLORS, At a special meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council held last evening, at which all the members were present, the resignations of Councillors Tom Hadfield and William Wallace were received. They had resigned owing to the action of the Mayor in connection with the purchase of the reservoir site. The following resolution was moved by Councillor F. M. King, seconded by Councillor Thomas Church, and unanimously adopted: "That we, the Councillors of Birkenhead, receive the resignation of , Councillors Hadfield and Wallace with much regret, but, as the Council as a whole had the opportunity and power to decline the purchase of the new site for the proposed reservoir, and each and every Councillor had the opportunity of proposing an amendment to the resolution, we are of the opinion that no question of principle was involved an the transaction, and that the Mayor acted in the interests of the ratepayers."

Interesting addresses by Dr. McDowell, president; Miss Gibson, director; Una Worship the Mayor (Mr. C. J. Parr) ; Mr. E. K. Mulgan (Inspector of schools), and Mrs. Leo Myers (vice-president), will follow. Public interest in this excellent civic and educational movement should be thus stimulated.
