ORGAN RECITAL. Some time ago AD- H. G. Dutton decided to provide a series of organ recitals at St. Seputcnre's uiureh in aid of tue organ tunu, aud the iourtn recital was gneu beiore a good audieuce last evening, mc orgauist being assisted, iv the programme submitted by Miss lua Bo&vvo.'iu. A wide range of items o£ a nigh dundaru was Judiciously selected by air Dutton, and ho showed ability in rendition and appreciation of the composers' work, -xuiubeis were selectea from the compositions ol such noted authors as tiollms, Ischaikowsky, Bach, Arcadelt, Wuguer, l'uzzini, Luard, Selby, Wolsteuuolms, and saintSaens. Miss Bosworth played the violin solo, "Legeude," composed oy Wieuiawski, aud evidenced much talent in the iuterpretaUou.

EDENDALE SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Edeudale School Committee was held at the school ou Tuesday evening. A letter was received from the Board of Education in reply to an application for additional accommodation, Informing the Committee that the Board had resolved to make application to the Minister for a special grant to provide accommodation at the school for 60 additional pupils, also adding that the Minister is beiug furnished with estimates of the cost of adding two and three additional rooms to the school respectively, and that he is being informed that the Board considers that provision should be made at the present time for the addition of at least two rooms to the school. BAND OF HOrE UNION. The thirty-first annual meeting of the Auckland Baud of Hope Union was held last evening in the V.M.C.A. building. The president (Mr. C. G. Hill) presided, the attendance beiug small. The annual report characterised the year's work as generally successful, its principal feature being the competitive examinations held in December last in thirty-three different centres. The Rev. P. S. Smallfield and Messrs. R. French nnd 11. Field acted as judges, and there were 606 entries by 230 competitors. The monetary prizes and certificates awarded had done much to encourage temperance knowledge among the young. Approval was expressed at the action of the Education Department in furnishing temperance wallsheets to all public schools, for which the rifin. George Kowlds was mainly responsible. It was announced that an extensive pledge-taking crusade would be entered on throughout the Dominion previous to the coming poll. The balance-sheet showed the receipts for the year to ho £183 17/5, leaving a credit balance of £56 2/0. against £12 12/6 carried over from the previous year. A number of reports were received from various bands of hope, showing that ivorki was being actively carried on.
