The manager telegraphed this afternoon: "li>lb_ of specimens from, the Otama section. The Irene main reef is improving in oharacter, being, 2ft,. and payable." BREMNER'S FREEHOLD. The manager telegraphed this morning: "81b3. selected from the new reef, and 61bs. front the stopes." At the noon -call several thousand' shar.es changed hands at 41d.and 4d. WAIHI G.M. COMPANY. The following cable has been despart vh~ ed to London:—"No. 8 level ScoTpiorr S.E. crosscut. At 414 feet have cut a reef 2ft. wide, 2/6 per ton. The course of the lode is 40 degrees- (true) underlying north. At 428 ft. have cut a reef sft. wide* 9/ per ton. The'course of the-lode is 53 degrees (true) underlying north. No. 9 level, Royal Lode, west of No. 5 Shaft crosscut, 40ft. driven (sSoft.-620£t.) 14/6 per ton. At 600 ft. the total width: of the lode is 7ft., 4/ per ton. Edward Lode, south of Perch crosscut, 68ft. driven (30Sft.-373ft.), £1 11/ per ton. At 300 ft". tlic- total wndth of the lode is 16ft., £1 15/ per ton. Empire Lode, cast of No. 4 Shaft crosscut, at 444 ft., the total width of* the lode is 18ft., 15/ per ton. No. 4 Shaft North-west cross, cut. No. 0 level, reef at 631 ft., next 3Sft., IF/."". Level No. 10, lowering water slowly: it is evidently connected with the main storage; the pumping plant working well. We cannot' estimate when we can resume work."
TAIRUA GOLDEN HILLS. A special meeting of shareholders in the Tairua Golden Hill' Gold Mining Company wis held, at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon in Mr. W. Gray's office. Mr. John- Dawson presided. He explained: that the office of the company had been removed to the New Zealand Mines Trust, and as they had Mr. Rhodes and Mr. Hopkins to confer with, it was felt there was no need to have seven: directors. The directors, therefore, proposed, to alter the articles of association to read that the number should, not be more than five or less than three, insted of seven and five, as at present. He moved accordingly, which was seconded hy Mr. Gordon and agreed to.
