» iThe following matters •were disposed of 'by the Auckland Harbour Board after we •went to press yesterday:— A letter from the Auckland Yachting Association, drawing attention to the insufficient protection afforded 'by the area set luslde for yachts, and seating that the fee of £1 per annum, fixed by the Board for yucht moorings was pressing iieovily on the owners of small craft, and snggestlng 'that the charge be fixed on the basis of the size of thfi yacht, was referred to the Finance and Legal Cammittefc, The following recommendation -was submitted by the Finance and Legal Committee:—(l) "That the treasurer be instructed to transfer the sum of £BSO3 10/1, appearing undur previous instructions in list of Board's assets, to Renewals and Contingencies Account, such amount to be charged against that account." And (?) "That the accounts as amended be submitted to the Coutrolier and Auditor-General for signature." The chairman explained t&at the sum referred to an asset which no longer existed, a demolished wharf, the treasurer having been previously instructed to retain it among the Board's assets. The com-mittee, however, considered that such a course was not sound business, and that the item was a fair charge against the renewal ami contingencies account, which had been set apart for the purpose, and now stood about £70,000 in credit. He pointed ont that the treasurer was in -no way responsible Iα the matter. Tbe recommendation vas adopted.
