They ere laid upon solid beds of concrete, not upon mad or macadam, and so far from it being • fact that "in all older towns where wooden blocks have been laid down they are now busily pulling them up again, 5, wooden"' blocks are being more widely used than ever before in London and other cities throughout the world for road pavements.
