IDSCEEASrSG IN POPULABUT. The- 'Wa2£a*OAaniniat r 'Winter Show is steadilyincreasing , in popularity, so much so that the president of the association (Mr. S. J. Bennett), in speaking at the opening yesterday afternoon, predicted that Waikato -wonM soon 3nave a Wmter Shuw second to none in the Dominion. The opening ceremony was successfully performed, the speakers, in addition to Mr. Bennett and Mr. H. J. Greens Jade, being Messrs W. T. Jenning3, M.P., J. A. Young (Tffayor of Hanraton) and G. Giffard (director of the Department of Agriculture). In his opening remarks Mr. Greenslade gave some interesting figures relative to the growth of the bntter indnstry in the Waikato. These showed that -viilhlu the past ten years the manufacture of batter had grown from a mere nothing , into an indnstry, there being now ten factories in operation. In 1901 only 90- i boxes -were exported, three years later, 1904, the export had grown to 39,650 boxes, whilst last year some boxes were prodnced for export. The show was well attended last evening, and keen interest was shown in the various exhibits. The exhibition remains open until Saturday evening next. The following are additional awards-;— FARM KILLED MEAT. Lamb, farm killed: A. B. Cassidy. Porker, most suitable for Home market; Thomas Ecwin t, A. B. Cassidy 2. The jndge (Mi S. C. Baron) considered that there was not a pig shown suitable for the British market, and the priae went to the best one shown. The pigs were overweight, as the most suitable weight for export to the London market wae 60 to 80 ids. Ttrose shown seemed *o be over IDO lbs weight, in addition they were not well finished, indicating that they had not received sufficient hard, feed. AGEICCLTUBAL SECTION.
