Blythe, who has been on the New Plymouth staff of the Bank of New South Wales for. the past six years, arrived in Auckland yesterday to take up the duties of accountant at the local branch. Mr. W. F. Massey, M.P.,'Leader of the Opposition, who returned to Auckland yesterday, has been, invited to speak at several centres, including Coromandel, and will start on a short tour .in the course of a few days. The condition of the Mayor of Wellington (Mr. T. M. Wilford), who is at present suffering from appendicitis, js reported to be slightiy better. Mr. Wilford is making slow progress towards recovery, but is likely to De confined to Ms house for some time to come. The remains of the late Mr. W. L. Murdoch were interred at Purewa-this afternoon, in the presence of a number of friends. The interment was private, the services in St. Mark's Church and at the graveside being conducted by the Rev.
