POLICE COURT.

(Before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M.); THE DRUNKARDS. Arthur Thorpe pleaded guilty to a second offence of drunkenness* and to two charges pfproeuring liquor while prohibited. Thorpe has been medically treated for the past week. He was convicted and discharged for drunkenness and also on one charge of procuring W' ? n - he other bein e fined V 6 and M/b costs, in default seven days. Robert John Preston, a third offender also charged with a breach of his order was fined £2 or seven days. Five first offenders were fined 5/ each, and Herbert Nolan, a second offender, 10/. DISORDERLY AT THE RAGES. Daniel South, well-known at the Police Court, pleaded not guilty to charges of having been disorderly while drunk on the Ellershe racecourse, procuring liquor while prohibited, and using obscene language. The evidence was conclusive, an-i accused was convicted on all charges. He asked for a chance, stating he knew nothing about the occurrence. It was pointed out by his Worship that accused had been appearing at the Court for the last 16 years, and when drunk appeared to lose all count of things. In inflicting sentence his Worship said that if accused appeared before the Court again he would be given a heavy sentence. For using obscene language South was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. For procuring he was fined £2, or seven days, and on the other charge sentenced to seven days, the sentences to be concurrent. MISCEIXAJTBOTIS. After being under medical examination for a week, Nicholas Henricksen this morning appeared on a remanded charge of using threatening behaviour, and was convicted and discharged. Thos. Wm. O'Callaghan (Mr. Matthews) pleaded guilty to charges of entering licensed premises- and procuring liquor for F. W. Craig, knowing Craig to be prohibited. On the first count he was fined £5, in default 14 days, and on the second convicted and discharged. Alfred Moore was fined £2, with 7/ costs, for erecting scaffolding exceeding 16ft in height, -without first notifying the ■inspector. Defendant was similarly convicted last year. Wm. BarUfcy, for procuring liquor while prohibited, was fined £2, with 7/ costs. ===
