STAtE COAL MINES.
CONDITIONS OF ' EMPLOYMENT. (By Telegraph.—-Press Association.) GREtfViOLTH, this day. A mass meeting ofi residents..oX_ the State collieries at Runanga and Dunolly passed the following resolutions,, proposed by the Miners' Unions: (1). "That this meeting of Coal Creek -State Miners' Union enters its most emphatic protest against the slack time worked by the State Mine during the last five months, wfien we consider that the mine is the people's concern, and the Government are acting as agents of the whole people. We consider that inquiries into matters relating to the working of the same should be made forthwith, with a view to having the people's mines worked in the .interests of the whole people." (2) "That this meeting of, the State Miners' Union enters its most emphatic protest against the accommodation conditions of the workers employed at the Point Elizabeth No. 2 Branch Mine, and "calls upon the Government at once to erect suitable huts, etc., for the workmen employed there." ;
A number of members supported the resolution, and pointed out that there are at present 100 men working at the Top Mine, employed at development works, without suitable accommodation.
