BRISBANE, March 28. Mr. Wareham to-night leeeived a telegram from Towßsville as fbllowe , :— " The small steamer Alert returned to Townsville to-niglht, and reported having found on Keeper Beef, situated about 25 miles north of Cape Cleveland, two cases of kerosene, which had been shipped by the Yoogala for Liuinda Point; also a lifeboat, two email gratings, and an oar without any marks ibhat might lead to identification." The alert also picked up two pillows, branded " A.S. Company," pieces of a cabin trunk and cabin fittings, besides a case of oil intended for Cairns. It addition to the above artfcles, the Alert found a fancy-coloutred glass panel, with the glass partly broken away. On the broken glass was the word " Festina" and the figures " 1900." M. Wareham, speaking of the latter discovery, sai<f the words undoubtedly proved that the panel belonged to tfhe miesiarg steamer Yongala, aa tihe motto of tine AS. 00. is "Festina lente" (or "Hasten elowly"). This motto was engraved upon the door of. the Yongala's music-room. One piece of a boat's guard, which was picked up, bore the mark " V. 2. F." The Alert also picked up a,.bag of mails which, when opened by ifahe police, wae found to contain twelve parcels, but the addressee on only two were partially decipherable.
