NEW SCHOOL OPENED.
((By Telegraph.—Owa Correspondent-l HAMILTON, this day. Bixty children were present this morning at the opening of the Frankton echool, eitttated »t Wihatawhata-road, about a mile from the station, serving the children of Wiiatawha-ta, Tuhikaramea, and Tempa-road. Mr. Young (chairman of the Hamilton committee) performed the opening ceremony. He congratulated the district upon the establishment of the edhooi; but eeid' it wae too email for the requirements of .the growing district. Mr. Elliott, until recently proprietor of the Ohaupo Hotel, was entertained at a social gathering, and presented with a case of pipes as a mark of esteem. The rifle competition for the Miller shield by the C Squadron of the (Second Regiment :AJrf.R. was won by Trooper Holmes, with 95 points, ihis brothers being second, third and fourth. The Catholics of Hamilton ihave decided to proceed with the erection of a brick church to seat 800 people at a cost of £5000.
