POST OFFICE CHANGES.
The following promotions of post and telegraph officials have been approved by tho Sight Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, Post-master-General :—Mr. E." M. Baird, as-sistant-telegraph engineer, Wellington, to succeed' Mr. W. S. Furby as telegraph engineer at Auckland. Mr. E. A. Shrimptpn, assdstant-tclcgraph engineer, Auckland) to succe«jd Mr. Baird at Wellingtpn.
It has been decided to rearrange the telegraph engineers' -district in the South Island, and to regard it in future as a sub-district. Mr. G. T. Kemp, subengineer at Napier, has been appointed chief engineer at Nelson, and Mr. E. P. Cowles, sub-engineer at Wellington, is to fill the vacancy caused by 'his transfer. Mr, A. Gibbs, .of the telegraph engineer's office, Dunedin, is to be chief electrician at Wellington during the absence from the Dominion of Mr. T. Suckley. The retirement, through ill-health, of Mr. 6. P. gtevens, chief-postmaster, Chriatchurch, has been authorised. Mr. G. F. B. Smallbone, chief clerk at Najrier, 'has been Appointed-postmaster at Mar ton. The Postmaster-General has authorised the extension of the express delivery and special messenger services to all offices where telegraph messengers are em.» ployed. .
