ITORTHCOTE REGATTA.

f (The second onnnarNorthcote regatta >wi»s held in the harbour on Saturday afternoon. The regatta is promoted by residents, and a liberal response provide*! substantial prizemoney. ?Dhe officials connected iwith the regatta were located on the ecow Glenae, kindly placed at the disposal of the com■mlbtee by Mr. T. Bowden. A targe crowd of people assembled oh the bill above the point to "watch "Uie racing, and "the Centml Mission Band' played a number of musical selections during .the afternoon. The eideshaws, which, were held aloee to the flagsaip, oreated no end of fun, particularly -the duel, in which two contestants wtth padded spikes fought Iα tooate. The upsetting of the vanquished one caused mudi merriment. The general arrangements iwere .well carried out, and credit Iβ due to *he oflicials, who managed the affair in a businesslike manner, not a bitch occurring throughout the proceedings. Keane and Parker and Fredrlc and Ross proved to be the winning crews in the two rounds In the semi-final, and will row off for final honours to-night. NORTH SHORE YACHT CLUB. The North Shore Yacht Club held their second series of -class .races on Saturday afternoon. There was a good entry in all the races, and nearly all 'the boats entered actually started. There was scarcely a breath of ulr early in 'the afternoon, but the breeze freshened a little as the afternoon wore on, and the races were not mere drifting competitions. Following are the results:— Class 1. (yachts nv>t exceeding 30tt), distance 13 miles.—Of six yachts entering, four started in this race— Marangl scratch. Thistle 9m, Glorlana 14m, Mlro 16m. The finishing and corrected times were: Thistle, finish 6h 9m ss, corrected Oh Om ss; Marangl tih 14m 13s, 6h 14m 13s; Gloriana, 6h 21m 30s, Gh 7m 30s; Miro, Gh 22m 18s, 6h 6m 18s.
