WAITDJIATA CLUB'S CARNIVAL. The fifth carnival of the Waltemata Swimming Club was held at the Albertstreet baths last night. There was a lar«e attendance, and good racing -was provided. M. E. Champion wae successful In his attempt to lower the New Zealand record for tile half-mile, a report of which appears in another part of this issue. W. R. Horton wns matched against W. B. Jerrom over 215 yds, to determine who sfionld he selected to represent Anckland in the breast stroke championship at the forthcoming championship meeting, and the first nam°d defeated his opponent rather easily In the beet time put up In Auckland for the distance.
