Much interest and not a little curiosity is being evinced concerning the Queen's Float, which is to form, the central feature of the Sweet Pea Carnival. What is it 1 is asked. The pictures herewith may help to solve the problem. The float will be a species of floral carriage of state. The erection shown in the picture will bo decorated entirely in white, cream, and crimson sweet peas, and will be mounted on a-decorated lorry, the whole splendid equipage being drawn by stately white horses. The queen will be enthroned on the float, and attended by handsomely garbed maids of honour and pages in rich attire. Her Majesty will, moreover, be preceded by outriders and followed by attendant squires on ponies. The horses and ponies will be decorated, and have sumptuous trappings of satin and scarlet—sweet peas being used for the edging— and the children and ladies attending in costumes of white and scarlet. The effect cannot help being exceedingly attractive, and nothing approaching the exhibit has ever been attempted in Auckland. The float was designed by Mrs. Milne, and built by Mr. T. Mitchell.
