Tne bazaar in aid of the extinction of the debt on the parish hall of St. Aldan's, Remuera, was opened by the Hon. E. Mitchelson yesterday afternoon. The vicar (Rev. Fowler), in a brief explanation of the object of the bazaar, stated that of the, total cost of the . hall ( — 1,600)-, some £890 remained still unpaid, and that alt— ough the amount might seem large, he felt that the rapid growth of the district justified the erection of a ppermanent structure in brick instead of a wooden one. Mr. Mitchelson, in declaring the bazaar open, congratulated the parishioners on having a hall second to none in the diocese. The following are the stall-holders:—Sweet stall, Misses Gregpory and Cutting; Girls' Friendly Societyj. Mrs. Winstone; plain needlework, Mesdames Abbott and Walker; fancy stall, Mrs. Heebie; produce, Mrs. "Whitney; boys' stall, Bible class lads; refreshments, Mesdames Buchanan, E. Horton, and Prowde, The bazaar will be OQan again this evening, when music will be provided by the Bavarian Band. The following tenders have been received by Mr.. John Gurrie, architect, for the erection of the new Ventnor boardinghouse at Devonport: E. Morris £5455, J. Lye and Sons £5494. J. Webster £5550, Craig Bros., £5555, G. G- Pollard £5635, Guthrie and Colebourne Johns and Sons £6300. For the erection of a tenroomed brick residence at Papatoetoe the following tenders have been received: W. P.
