War ' ■trhdV-r " Greneral Cameron, died on -aged seventy-three years. Mrs. Jorj', wife of the Rev. J. D. Jory. who recently left for Wellington on account of the serious illness of her- -son, is now herself dangerously ill, and Mr. Jory hao left hurriedly for the Southern city. Mr. J. M. Cochrane, accountant at Waihi 'branch of the National Bank, was tendered a farewell eveneng at the Waihi Club on Saturday, the occasion being Oiis leiwing to join the staff in the Auckland office-. Mr. Oochxane was the recipient of a silver flask from the menrbera-of the club. The members of the Auckland Sunday School Union met in the Pitt-street Methodist Churcih Jast night to welcome home Mr. George Winstone and. his son, Dr. K. C. Winstone, who just returned to Auckland, after a long txrar in Europe and America. The function took the form of it social, avtwJaieh- addressed of welcome -were delivered 'by various speakers. Mr. Winstone ■was the Union's delegate at the World's Sunday School Conveation at Washington, and. in reply to the welcoming speeches lie had soanebhing interesting to say ; by way of reporting the business done at the convention.
