REORGANISING SCHEME. The special-Ipieetrng of "-ihV Harbour Board to consider recommendations "of ifhe committee α-ppointed (to report on a. reorganiisastion. scheme respecting the Board'e various departments deliberated on the following- matters in addition to those published, in yesterday's issue: OFEICE DEPARTMENT. The Committee recommended, in respect of the Office Department: "That the offices of ■ secretary and treasurer be separated; that Mr. C F. Gairabt be appointed treasurer and -accountant, at a salary of £300 per ewurum; that upon the appointment of *he new secreibary certain necessary structural altera-' itions .be effected; and that the Committee ibe empowered to employ an expert registered accountant to inspect ithe Board's ibooks and report as to the dtesiraiility of any further improvement* im the system." TR.A-FBTO AND GOODS. With, regard to the Traffic and "Goods Department, the Committee recommended <tiie Appointment of Mr. I/umley, at present mghlb watchsnan, to. assist in controlling the traffic, and to effect small repairs ifco tarpaulins, etc.; and' (that all the traffic employees under the traffic manager ibe sworn iby the Justice Department as special constables, if I (practicable.
A ..detailed scheme was also sabmitted 'for »■-β-ysitem -bo*-l>e» adopted in the stores -and yards, one of the recommendations being that an experienced ironmonger, ■with a knowledge of bookkeeping, be iplaced in charge of stores and material, ■and that «■ proper system of bookkeeping be adopted.
