RIFLE SHOOTING.

AKARACSA DEFENCE CLUB. The Akarana Defence Rifle Club fired trophy matches at the Penrose range ou Saturday. The ranges were 200 yds and 500 yds, 10 shots at each distance. A. Danrell made top score in the A section, with 97, Perston and Carlsen putting on 06 each. F. R. Combes won In the B section, defeating Thompson and Griffiths on a tie. W. N. Second class: Churches, Tobin, Blair, Richardson, and Moak. Third-class: Wilfrid, Cox, and Craig. Special prize: Churches. The following members -won silver spoons in section competition:—Patrick, J. B. Preston, D. Jones, Tobin, Gallaugher, Cammell, and Ferguson, Captain Oox, Col.-Sergt. Lee, and Pte. S. Rowe have supplied trophies for the second rounr , of competitions. "B" COMPANY. "B" Company, No. 1 Native Rifles, firei the second competition for the company' championship belt and gold medal on Satui day. The ranges -were 200 and 500 yards Private Devore secured a second win, pul ting on the good score of 68 points, the pos slble being 70 points. He also wins a soil silver teaspoon, he having made a posslbl at 500 yds. This is the eecond spoon won fo making a possible in any company competi tion.
