ANNIVERSARY SERVICES.

The special services in connection with the thirty-fourth anniversary of the Devonport Methodiet Sunday School •were held in the church yesterday, there t>eing large attendances at the three (meetings, The Rev. A. N. Scofcter, RA., preached at the morning and afternoon meetings, while the Rev. W. Beck addreseed the large congregation in the evening. A special feature of the services ■was the singing by the scholars, ■who, assisted by an efficient orchestra, were under the conductorship of Mr. F. Beck. The annual tea and public meeting will be held on Wednesday next, when an excellent programme mil be presented hy the scholars. The eighth anniversary celebrations of the East-street Sunday-school were held in the East-street Hall yesterday, and passed off very successfully. In the morning service the preacher was Mr. J. Lock, and the singing of the children was a very special feature. The afternoon service was conducted by the Rev. W. H. Knowles Kempton, who gave an address on Bunyan'e "Pilgrim," and was listened to with rapt attention. A duet was pleasingly rendered by Misses V. Pagan and Winnie Stewart, and & eolo by Miss Doris Dixon. In the evening the place was packed, many being unable to get in, and the service was conducted by the Rev. Gv Bond, who gave an impressive address on the test "A Little Child Shall Lead Them," and the choir rendered a splendid programme of music under the baton of Mr. G. F. Cater, led by a full mission orchestra. Miss Elsie Lock presided at the piano, and Master Alfred Paacoe at the organ. The offerings constituted a record for the Sunday-school. To-night a tea is to be held at 6.30 for the children, and a special moving picture entertainment at eight o'clock, open to the public. The special services will be continued next Sunday, when the Rev. Junics Wilson will be the preacher, and will distribute ' the prizes in the afternoon.
