Jlr Uoyd George, in a message to the •yorksMre Observer," says: "Having vainly endeavoured conciliatory methods, ire are driven to fight for fair play. "We repudiate the claim that GOO Tory Peers were born to control the destinies f 45 million of their fellow citizens, and to trample upon the latter's wishes for pood government." Jlr. C. B. HaHane (Secretary for War)', speaking at Warrington, said there was o n 'y one prop o3^'oll to submit to the nation, namely, that the will of the Commons should prevail. Hβ added that the election -svill come Hardie blames the Government for jjeJdng an election when they already jjve a mandate.
