DESPERATE STRUGGLE IN A BEDROOM. (By "Telegraph.—Press Association.)

At the Magistrate's Court to-day, a labourer named Fredk. Williams was committed for .trial on charges of (1) ■breaking and entering a dwellinghouse at night with intent to commit a crime, (2) assaulting a female -ivith intent to conunrt rape. Prisoner is alleged to 'have entered the victim's bedroom window at 2 o'clock on Sunday morning. A desperate struggle took place, in which the intruder was severely handled. The inmates of the house were aroused, and the man escaped, but left a 'hat, which is alleged to be 'the property <of the accused.
